Welcome!
The Sunshine Coast Dog Obedience Club Inc has been servicing the Sunshine Coast for over 20 years, promoting responsible canine citizenship, training well behaved furry companions and facilitating friendships with fellow dog enthusiasts.
We have classes available for all levels of experience so whether it's your first ever puppy or your sixth competition dog, we have something to offer. We currently hold Beginners, Intermediate, Intro-to-Advanced and Advanced level obedience classes on Mondays.
Aside from classes, the Club supports those keen to test their skills by hosting several dog sports trials every year. Disciplines include obedience, rally, tricks and scentwork. Keep an eye on K9 Entries to see when the next trial schedule goes live, and to enter online!
Our instructors have extensive training experience (80+ combined years of knowledge!), are dog lovers and genuinely enjoy being witness to your success. Our trainers use a wide variety of techniques during classes, employing the philosophy of "you train the dog at the end of your leash", making us flexible to the needs and temperaments of each individual. The club grounds its classes in a blend of balanced and positive training techniques, taking a holistic approach to the wide array of ideologies and methods available to us.
The SCDOC is a not-for-profit, 100% volunteer-run organization. Anyone with time to donate is always welcomed!
The Sunshine Coast Dog Obedience Club Inc. is an affiliate of Dogs Queensland (Canine Control Council QLD / CCCQ).
All training sessions and competitions are conducted in accordance with the rules of that association - available on request or online.

Just getting started?
If you're just starting out, then our popular Beginner's Course is the perfect launchpad!
Held on Monday nights in small groups of 10 - 12 dogs in each class, we have a new 8-week beginners obedience course starting every 8 weeks. Enrolments open 4 weeks prior to starting and often book out within hours, so save the date to get in early to secure your place!
With our newly revamped curriculum, over eight weeks you and your dog will be introduced to heaps of foundational obedience skills such as coming when called, loose leash walking, sit, drop, stay, etc and give you the tools needed to be good citizens of the dog community. You'll learn how to engage with your dog, and how to get (and keep!) his attention.
The fun doesn't end at graduation, you and your dog can keep training and progressing up the levels!
Have a bit of experience?
If you have participated in formal obedience training with your dog previously, you are eligible for a free assessment session with our Chief Instructor who will determine an appropriate class level. If this is you, click the button below to organise your assessment!
In your message include details about your prior training experiences, training your current dog has completed, their temperament and any dog sports you may be aspiring to.
